Packing Blankets

Couple of questions about packing the “hospital bag”?
1) What should the baby wear on the trip home? Do they need a cap in the summer?
2) What should I bring to wear home? Should it be maternity pants? I have no idea how much smaller I’ll actually be after the delivery….
3) Does the hospital provide diapers and receiving blankets? Pacifiers?
4) What should the baby wear in his hospital pictures?
Thanks!
Dress the baby the same as if it were you with 1 extra layer. My daughter was born in the summer and we put her in a onesie and a receiving blanket on top. My son was born in the winter and he had a sweatsuit and a .. coat-suit… it was like big jacket to cover the legs with no opening at the bottom. Not sure what the word for that is.
Its not a fashion show and what you want to wear will depend on how the baby comes out. Both my kids were vaginal, but my daughter was stuck so I was a bit torn up downstairs, I went home in a nightgown and bandage panties (also probably not the proper word .. but basically a sterile adult diaper like construct) With my son I was able to wear regular pajamas. defiantly pack a big nightgown you’d be willing to be seen in public wearing.
As for your size… your belly will be smaller but your breasts will double in size overnight. (not even kidding about that, I went to bed with baseballs and woke up with volleyballs)
The hospital provided me with diapers, blankets, formula, pacifiers and all kinds of other goodies, enough for at least 2 days.
I didn’t have a chance to dress the baby in anything, but a simple pull over shirt is enough, people want to see the baby not what its wearing. (frankly the first photos aren’t going to be pretty anyway, newborns have blotchy skin and possible facial bruises from the birth canal)
